Real Estate and Cyberspace

In this day and age real estate and cyberspace are so inter related that it’s operates almost like one industry. Since the MLS have gone virtual over 5 years ago. A lot of buyers are being found using online means. Realtor.com, FSBO sites and Flat Fee MLS services such as www.4thishouse.com have provided a lot of home seller’s maximum exposure all done virtually.
On the other point, location, location, location premise of a business is fast being replaced by position, position, and position. Search engine optimization and marketing is also a new cyber real estate as companies pour thousands of dollars to SEO, Pay Per Click (PPC), affiliate and linking programs to boost their Search Engine Position and reach more end consumers world wide.
It is general knowledge that most searchers never go to 2 nd and 3 rd pages and very rarely does it ever go past that making Yahoo, MSN and Google first pages solid gold cyber real estate. A lot of spy ware and tool bar methods have been around to out buy and out position these pages yet as these methods become more and more accepted making search engine positioning solid gold Real Estate.
Real Estate on the other hand has taken it to another level. As more and more homes being sold are going online. As more and more buyers save time by looking for homes online before actually proceeding to call sellers. Real Estate Pictures, Information, Classified Ads and virtual tours have gone a long way and have become a widely accepted means of searching for a dream home. Complete with appraised value, prospective mortgage monthly payments and online closing forms and legal help.
Realtors are slowly getting into the online real estate cyber game as the United States 1.2 Million Realtors create their own websites complete with showing of their own listings and even an ability to have home sellers list their homes in the MLS online using and paying by credit card.
Realtors have also increased their market dramatically by cooperating with other online brokers and passing referrals to each other using emails, e-fax and other cyber methods allowing them to legally expand their operations across the United States without leaving their homes. Real Estate agents are this country’s number 1 telecommuters, working at home and in cyberspace using their knowledge on real estate to control location position over the internet. Realty services also took it one step further by receiving for sale by owner and foreclosure leads online.
Cyberspace has responded accordingly to this new marriage, Real Estate Directories and Link exchanges have become increasingly popular. Template web sites geared for real estate and online fax brochures and mailing solutions for Realtors are becoming a fast sold product.
Whenever two time-proven concepts meet, they either clash or make each other better. Apparently in this case, it has become better for Real Estate, for Cyberspace and for both the buyers and seller. Best of both worlds come together without losing tradition.
